Archaeological reconnaissance on Samshvilde Cape and the adjacent area in 2015
Abstract
In 2015, the Samshvilde Archaeological Expedition of the University of Georgia conducted fieldwork along three main directions: first, survey of specific districts of the settlement using geoarchaeological methods to identify archaeologically promising areas; second, excavations at the citadel to establish stratigraphy; and third, direct survey of the promontory and surrounding valleys and territories. The expedition aimed to gather archaeological data and study the structural layout of the site, providing a basis for subsequent analysis and interpretation.
