An artistic pottery of high medieval centuries from Samshvilde
Abstract
The article presents medieval local artistic ceramic fragments discovered at Samshvilde during the 2014–2017 excavations. The most common motif is the looped circle pattern, especially on blue- and green-glazed bowls. The material dates to the 12th–13th centuries and reflects a high level of ceramic technology. Vegetal and geometric ornaments dominate, along with bird representations.
