Colchian Bronze on the Island of Sicily (On Intercultural Relations at the Initial Stage of Greek Colonization of the Eastern Black Sea Region)

Abstract

The article focuses on Bronze objects discovered on the island of Sicily, whose stylistic and morphological features correspond to the Colchian and broader Caucasian material culture of the first half of the 1st millennium BCE. The study also touches upon trade and exchange networks in the ancient world. Its aim is not a comprehensive resolution of these issues, but the updating of data and the filling of informational gaps in specialized scholarly literature.

     

The aim of the article is not to provide a definitive solution to this broad issue; rather, its purpose is to update the available data and to fill an informational gap in the specialized scholarly literature.
