Abstract

.Turdoskhevi, a right tributary of the Alazani, flows southeast from the Tsiv-Gombori mountains and emerges onto the Alazani plain near Vardisubani. Historically, it marked Kartlos and Heros territories, later forming the southeastern border of Kakheti. It is suggested that a branch of the Hellenistic “Phasis-Hyrkania” route, known as the “Hereti bypass road,” passed through Turdoskhevi, leading from Nekresi via Telavi and Gombori to Tbilisi-Mtskheta.
