Report of reconnaissance works of the cave complexes developed on the left plateau of the Chivchavi River
Abstract
The paper focuses on the cave complexes located on the left bank of the Chivchava River in Lower Kartli. It presents the geomorphological characteristics, lava flow structures, and surface formations. Near one of the small hills, an unknown megalithic structure — a 1.30-meter-high menhir — was discovered. In 2015, reconnaissance work was carried out in five caves, yielding around 100 ceramic fragments, mainly household vessels from the Late Middle Ages.
