Neolithic Stone Industry from Samshvilde
Abstract
Samshvilde is one of the most distinguished historical cities of the Caucasus. Its location in historical Kvemo Kartli, near the northern branch of the Silk Road, facilitated its rapid economic and political advancement from an early period. The promontory on which the city was built is situated at the confluence of the Khrami and Chivchava rivers and consists of a rocky massif formed by basalt layers rising to a height of 150–200 meters.
