Project: Joint Studies of the University of Georgia and the German Institute of Archaeology at the Prehistoric Site of Samshvilde
Abstract
Since 2019, the University of Georgia has collaborated with the German Archaeological Institute within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant 834616 — ARCHCAUCASUS. The study focuses on a Trialeti-Aragvi culture settlement and burial site in Samshvilde, Tetritskaro Municipality. The collaboration aims to investigate technical and social innovations in the Caucasus, in the context of the Eurasian Steppe and the earliest urban civilizations during the 4th and 3rd millennia BC.
